Buffalo Seed Company

Buffalo Seed Company supplies growers with seeds produced in the heart of America. All the seeds we offer were grown or wild harvested in Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri. We offer seeds of over 300 varieties of crop landraces, heirlooms, medicinals, and wild native plants.

Crop landraces are traditional varieties with deep cultural roots that are often dynamic, diverse, and adapted to specific environmental conditions. The landraces we offer contain diversity that can be shaped to your growing environment and to you by simply growing them, harvesting them, saving their seeds, cooking with them, and replanting them.

The crop seeds we offer were produced without synthetic chemicals, fed with organic fertilizer, and mulched with locally sourced hay/straw. Native plant seeds were wild harvested throughout the fields of Kansas and Missouri.

As all our seeds are produced in the core of the Midwest, year after year, they are adapting to our local and bioregional conditions. Bioregions are geographical areas with similar environments. Adapting crops to local and bioregional conditions will reduce the amount of inputs needed to obtain good yields, which is ultimately better for the environment, the table, and for profit.

While all our seeds have been growing in Eastern Kansas or Western Missouri, they have been reported to excel throughout our bioregion and beyond.

Locally and bioregionally grown seeds produced in sync with the earth is a step in the right direction.
